Upgrade lost my data

My older version (1.5.x) of MoneyWiz had been great but then started saying I needed to buy it (I already paid for it) or use demo mode. It showed no updates available and then I saw this version 2. Downloaded it thinking it was an upgrade. Once installed it showed none of my data. I reopened the old version and all of a sudden that showed no data!

Tech support was very prompt and definitely helped as best they could, (they even examined my database files and found nothing,) but it seems my data got wiped out when I installed version 2. So now I need to try to re-enter all of my business expenses and income for 2015 so I can pay my taxes.

I loved this app until this happened. I had given them 5 stars in the past, but due to these issues I need to drop it to 2 stars now. I now know to completely export and manually backup my data if I’m going to keep using this. (sadly it doesn’t seem my TimeMachine backups have the MoneyWiz database files either.)
